Sick of Being Nice

Often we find ourselves being nice to people who are not nice in return. We have this expectation that if "I am nice to others, they will see my effort and reciprocate it." It is in those moments that when it is not reciprocated, an offense will begin to fester in our hearts, and we take on the attitude of "why bother?"

Being nice is not something we do; it’s who we are. If you are sick of being nice, well you are sick of being like Christ.

"In everything you do, be careful to treat others in the same way you’d want them to treat you, for that is the essence of all the teachings of the Law and the Prophets." - Matthew 7:12 (TPT) says

We are commanded to treat people the way we want them to treat us. He never said they would return the favor.

You must be committed to being the bigger person.

I know that may be hard for you at times, but it has a greater reward in the end. You are able to be the bigger person because "greater is He that is in you, than He that is in the world."

We must surrender to the heart of Christ to show the niceness or better yet - love of Christ.

"However, I say to you, love your enemy, bless the one who curses you, do something wonderful for the one who hates you, and respond to the very ones who persecute you by praying for them. For that will reveal your identity as children of your heavenly Father. He is kind to all by bringing the sunrise to warm and rainfall to refresh whether a person does what is good or evil." - Matthew 5:44-45 (TPT)

When we are kind, it shows who our Father is and what family we belong to.

I totally understand. As children of the Most High, we love because we are loved. We forgive because we are forgiven. We give mercy because we are given mercy. We show compassion, because compassion is shown to us. We give Grace because grace is given unto us. We give what we constantly get from our Father.

Those who have not truly experienced that cannot live like that out loud. They are still operating from an orphan spirit. They are trying to do everything right in the flesh and still coming up “short” according to the standards set by man. Those who do not know God as Father can only give to the extent of what they have received.

As His children, we are called to be the light, and if being nice is being the light, let’s leave it on.

You are not responsible for the actions of others, but your actions can help change theirs if you remain consistent with who you are.

Being nice is a part of your identity, and if you change it, you are getting rid of the image of Christ.

"He was oppressed, and he was afflicted, yet he opened not his mouth: he is brought as a lamb to the slaughter, and as a sheep before her shearers is dumb, so he openeth not his mouth." Isaiah 53:7

‭‭We are following the example of our Lord and Savior when we do what is required of us that can ultimately save the lives of others. Many will not understand because darkness can not comprehend light. So don’t get offended when your kindness is misunderstood.

You are not gullible, naive or a push over. You are simply developing into the image of Christ.
