I Fit

As we kicked off the New Year at Renovation Church, our Pastor spoke from the topic, “I fit”.

He spoke on many things, but this phrase stood out to me. He said, “You’re supposed to fit in so the church can stand out.”

I fit lets me know I am a piece of Christ's body and there is a place just for me.

“So, you are not foreigners or guests, but rather you are the children of the city of the holy ones, with all the rights as family members of the household of God.” - Ephesians 2:19 TPT

First, you must believe you are in the family of God. You are no longer a stranger or foreigner to God. When you don’t see your place in His family first, chances of connecting to a local body of believers will be out of the question. You are no longer an orphan.

“For ye have not received the spirit of bondage again to fear; but ye have received the Spirit of adoption, whereby we cry, Abba, Father.” - Romans‬ ‭8‬:‭15‬ ‭KJV‬‬

Your gifts and talents fit in with how God designed you. When you recognize that being in His family requires you to be yourself, you will be able to fit into a body of believers and give what He has given you.

As the world glorifies standing out, we must be settled in who God created us to be so that His body gets the glory and not our own. Fitting in is not about conforming, but knowing who you are in Him that when you go out into the world, you represent Him and they notice the Most High within you.

As I was riding down Shorter Avenue the other day, I looked up at a billboard and it said “You belong.” Immediately I told myself, yes I do. I belong here. I belong in this world. I belong in this body of Christ and I belong here at my church and so do you.
