A Day to Rest
The word God is placing on my heart this morning is "rest." We are in a season of transition over here in the Fuller household and today feels like a deep inhale after being under water.
"And he said, 'My presence will go with you, and I will give you rest.'" - Exodus 33:14
This little scripture comes from a conversation between the Lord and Moses. Moses asked for help leading the people of Israel, and this was God's response. He didn't give Moses a game plan or an action step first - He just reassured him that the Presence of Yahweh would be with him, and promised to give him rest.
"Come to me, all who labor and are heavy laden, and I will give you rest. Take my yoke upon you, and learn from me, for I am gentle and lowly in heart, and you will find rest for your souls. For my yoke is easy, and my burden is light.” - Matthew 11:28-30
And of course there's this well-known scripture in Matthew. Again, we find rest in His presence. The first thing He says is "come to me" and then offers rest as a gift, not a reward to be earned.
So, Church, I encourage you to take some time this morning (or whenever you read this post) to find rest in the Presence of Yahweh, receiving it as the gift He wants to give you. Let's see what happens when His people live and act from a place of rest rather than from a place of burnout, anxiety, and stress.
Blessings and peace to you, my friends!
